Doctors on street - Reservation

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

With reservation issues gradually paralysing the countries  entire  public health systems,  the doctors are now  in the  street  raising  their voices against  reservation of seats in the higher studies for the people belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes  and Other Backward Classes.

Doctors are claiming that this will simply kill merit if  seats are entrusted to the candidates from reserved quota. It is a nation wide campaign that is going on since last few weeks and getting a lot of media-focus. The movement has also been able to draw attention of the Prime Minister, the hon’ble President of India and few politicians who seem to be otherwise reluctant to hear anything that goes against reservation or that even demands a partial modification of reservation policy.

Many people believes that India still is in crying need of reservation for its vast majority of people belonging to the SC, ST and OBC category. They require a platform/support to come up to the forefront and speak for their own. And the country has all along been maintaining its policy for providing the down-trodden people a chance to come forward.

Undoubtedly, it is an honest objective, but who are all actually enjoying the facilities of reservation? How far the policy has been successful to facilitate that class in their upcoming since over fifty years of our Indipendance?

For obvious reasons, the real target facility group has received practically nothing, but in the name of reservation, it appears that, lots of people belonging to rather affluent classes and at the same time has not a single occasion been deprieved of any services/facilities for belonging to SC/ST/OBC category, are the actual beneficiaries.

That is sad enough, and it happens so often!

This may be a side-effect of parliamentary democracy where majority is the rule and even when some policies create historical frustration among a  section  of the people who  otherwise are innocent  and deserve  the  same opportunity as being an  Indian,  they  have to eat it up and digest .

But why the Docs on the street?

Doctors have  taken the matter in streets, launching protests in all forms, going on for hunger strike, closing OPDs in hospitals and what not? The issue of “killing merit” is always being highlighted. They are pretty concerned for the poor health services that the country will witness within coming five years for these low-merit Doctors.

What people of this poor country see now?

Yah, people of India, including Bengal have seen many brilliant doctors, brilliant not for their merit alone but for having a human heart and who would possess that healing touch in his/her words, gesture and in prescriptions as well.

But that is a history of the past. Over last one or two decades, Doctors have de-graded  themselves in totality, although medical science has witnessed tremendous progress. Patients are now deemed like ATMs, insert the card and fetch money. There are numerous examples around everywhere.

Really speaking, people are quite confused, and the ultimate victims as well.

Then how will you increase your link popularity ?

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

With the drive undertaken by Google, it appears that increasing your link popularity has become even tough. Now you are not allowed (so far as i’ve undrstood) to participate in a link exchange program. Probably Google has sort listed the link-traders and clearly going to give those sites a big blow if found to take part in an exchange program.

There was another way of increasing your link popularity and it was to submit url in different directories that either offer a free listing in exchange of a link back to their url or money. Gone are those days!
I’ve read few suggestions from SEO mastros that you can request for a link-exchange to different webmasters via e-mail, but that must be very difficult.

And the last option is , no need to mention even, the natural process of increasing the link popularity, i.e. creating a quality website that other people will often refer to. Ooomm!

However, it appears that Google had no other option but to take these measures to protect the significance of PageRank.

But then, i’m happy to see all these changes as at times it really becomes boring to go on submitting urls in different directories… creating and maintaining link pages … atleast got rid of those hazards.

So big thanks to Big “G” !

Cheers!

Kindly read it before you post your comments

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Good evening,

Since i’ve started this blog with the support of http://www.hedir.com , i’ve seen a good amount of visitors have spent few moments reading all the stuff that come up in my mind. And some of you have offered appreciable views as well. Thanks for this encouragement and support!

On the other hand, i’ve seen few “spam posts” as well. It really shocks me to delete any of your posts, but i’m helpless. We all are simply following the rules set by the Big “G” and those rules do not allow us to keep irrelevant links in any webpages and i must say that this is fair enough. So, please do not attach url if that has no relevance with the context.
I really love to see your comments, so, please continue sharing your expertise/experience and correct me whenever i’m wrong.

Hopefully, you will not take this request as an exception in any case and continue to extend your support.

Thanks.

Split Keyphrase - Top ranking guide

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Oflate, crawler based search engines seem to pick-up sites for #1, #2 … ranking in which keyphrase is splitted up throughout the entire page. And that too must not have more than one or two mention.

In a study to see how crawlers are picking up site for a particular keyphrase,it was interesting to see that sites/pages with one or two mention of the keyphrase that too spread and splitted in the entire webpage, seem to draw better attention of the crawler.

Got it? Ok,let us say,a good SEO has optimised his webpage for the keyword “Spiderman downloadable games”.

Now if he mentions the keyphrases as it is written above, there is every possibility that SE spiders may simply ignore it. But if the word “Spiderman” appears at the top of the webpage with “downloadable games ” apprearing anywhere else on that page, the page may gain a better position.

Though there are few exception to this simple SEO strategy when big sites like Yahoo!, Wikipedia or Amazon are involved. SE crawlers have finally decided to go on giving big sites a better position for obvious reason of trust.

So next time, you consider optimising your website/webpages, try not to use the entire keyphrase but to split it up into constituent keywords. If you have a genuinely good website, chances are there - optimising in this way, may give your website a ranking anything between #1 to #10 in Major SERPs.

RED in the horizon

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

Incumbency factor, that is the one word to explain a unanimous mandate in favour of the left run State Government in West Bengal, where millions of pleple came out to vote for the Left-front ignoring scorching Sun beam, and hitherto unseen almost campaign-less Assembly Election 2006

Left did it for people of Bengal and who in turn rewarded them while casting votes.

In early nineties, a state that had witnessed its worst time in Industries, came up to lead from the front under the desered leadership of State Chief Minister, Sri Buddhadev Bhattacharya.

Sri Bhattacharya focussed on industrialisation of Bengal and invited investors of all corners of the globe to come in Bengal providing the best assistance the state could have done in their support. And that did the trick.

In IT sector alone, the state has captured a commanding position in India with Salt lake Sector -V, being deemed as one of the best site providing necessary IT infrustructure and leading IT Companies have responded to the call of Mr. Bhattacharya and invested here.

A traditional farmer based Political Party, largely dependant upon farmers, rural people and labourers of Bengal, and has a trustworthy face too amongst that community, this time seems to win the mandate of the city dwellers as well for its new industrial vision.

The Communist led Left-front Govt. has done an appreciable work in land reforms, irrigation and now its the turn of Industrialisation.

Bengal celebrities believe that it may expect to see an all together developed Bengal within coming five to seven years and so do people of Bengal.

Bagging 50.2% of the total votes cast and a win with three fourth majority, it seems that it has shadowed all previous mighty victory stories by any political party in the world’s largest democracy.

A consecutive seventh time victory ( thirty plus years in a row!) in the State Assembly Election, left seems to do just what people of Bengal wants them to do, a Government run by the people and for the people as well.

Hope the new development era will continue to grow up and expand and people of Bengal may see many more joyful moments of left run State Government in future.

Google re-inclusion request

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Hope that you should never require that in your life time in the internet, i’m compelled to list a link that will suggest you how to proceed for a re-inclusion request in Google.

First the link:

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/reinclusion-request-howto/

Now the need analysis, when i was a completely new-comer in this internet, i hosted my first serious website with the support of a free sub-domain hosting company. What happened you know, i created the pages in different segments ( like header.php, mainbody.php, menu.php, footer.php so on) and used style-sheet to align them in my home page and also in other pages of my website.

As my hosting co. inserted Ad-banners at the top of my webpages, and i used position: absolute in my style-sheet declaration, so my top-most header frame got overlapped by the Ad-banner.

I had to take lot of trouble to re-organise the layout, and managed to do that by some means. But that covered top-most header.php was strill there. I could see it in my local server but not in the web-server, as you can guess it was overlapped by that Ad-banner.

It was long way back, and i tested my site ( for which i spent many sleepless night as well ) with all the available web-tools and nobody suggested a change for any reason whatsoever. It was picking up well in Google presently. With msn and Yahoo, its performance has all along been good.

A month’s ago, i noticed that all of a sudden, pages were gradually de-indexed from Google index. I really do not work much at present for this site, as presently i’m working on to use my small PHP knowledge for development of a CMS.

Sometimes it improved but at other times it was showing nothing. I really ignored that and for obvious reason, i forgot every thing about that over-lapped header.php

Only last night, when i was conducting a routine check-up, i found it has gone!

I was clueless at that moment.I posted the entire event in Google group, many people reviewed my site, but no one found out any fault. And how can they do so, if the publisher himself can’t find one.

I just could not let it go out of my mind and i also could not re-collect anything about that culprit header.php - a poison file planted by me long ago.

Couple of hours ago, while sitting alone in my working table and reading the recommendations of the link i have mentioned above, i got the point suddenly.

I have kept a copy of that header.php and in my re-inclusion request ( this time i want to make sure that everything is right, so i’ll take few days again ) i’ll show that too.

No, atleast i can’t put blame on anyone, neither Google nor my host. They have done what they were supposed to do. It is my mistake though out of ignorance , as i have told already in my previous post that i’m not an SEO expert, forget about employing SEO tricks. Though i feel, i need to learn a lot of SEOs from hence-forth to avoid such frustration.

Now i’ll do two thing, rather three.

Before submitting a re-inclusion request, i want to make it sure that everything is ok. It will definitely take some time.

I’ll post a new thread in Google group, to make people like me aware of the dangers that may be caused out of inadvertance and what to do in that case.

And for you all, who has spent few moments reading this bogus blaberring of a totally dissappointed web-publisher(????….), please do not make a mistake like what i’ve done. I had little idea regarding this world and now i’m feeling that path in this world is also not always full of pleasure.

Anyway enjoy your time friend.

Make SEs mad

Monday, May 8th, 2006

That seems to be the only way you can win a search engine war, i call it a war as really we have to fight a lot each day to maintain our position in SRPs. So what is the only way? You have to make engines mad.

Crawlers will simply be crazy for your site, for its content in particular. It will keep rushing at your home page and may inturn reward you one fine morning.

There is another point i’ll mention. You have to use your keyword to the minimum possible extent cleverly embedded in header tags, i.e.

Keyword reach content may not be what bots are looking for now-a-days, a mimimum calculative keyword usage seems to perform better. So far as i have seen, one to two mention ( and astonishingly not even a single mention) of the keyword may reward you with lots of targetted traffic.

Few sites containing only image maps at the home pages are ranking the top in the SRP.

I watch all these changes and get confused a lot as to how the SE Engineers manage to develop algorithms to pick up a site that really has no textual content ( hardly one to four words per page, yes i’m not joking) to indicate its relevance for a keyword! But there pick-up is absolutely flawless in most of the time.
And those great site-builders, hats off to them also. You can see a fantastic site containing little or no words, mostly images and getting huge targetted traffic.

Believe me, whenever i get bored, i see the site, it is too fantastic to describe even, please visit it.

Sesame street toys!

If you have cared to visit that site, please let me know what do you think. Also let me know how are the crawlers managing to index such a site!

Enjoy!

Please note:

Kolkata cools down, so do i and observing some fascinating web-art oflate.

Neither i’m an SEO expert, nor do the above site belongs to me!
